Creating and maintaining web applications involves working with various tools. If you are looking for a helping hand, you should consider using WampServer. You can use it to build your web applications from the ground up, using Apache2, PHP and MySQL database. Furthermore, its PhpMyAdmin feature allows you to manage your database without any complications.

WampServer is distributed under a General Public License, which means that you don't have to pay for the product. The program is available for 32 and 64-bit operating systems and it takes about a minute to install it.

As previously suggested, the software includes Apache2, PHP and MySQL services. You can enable, disable and manage these services in separate sub-menus, after you left click the program's system tray icon. You can find quick actions, in the main menu, for starting, stopping or restarting all services, setting the program itself to online or offline, accessing your web site's index page and more.

You may create an entire folder structure and populate it with your contents, in the "WWW" folder, located in the program's installation directory. The parent folders, in the "WWW" directory, will appear as projects on your index page. Furthermore, you can tweak the Apache configuration files according to your own needs. If you make one or more changes to a certain service, you may restart that service right away, with a single click.

In some cases, you may need certain extensions or modules, depending on what program you want to install on your server. WampServer includes a huge amount of extensions and modules for the Apache and PHP services. You can find them in sub-menus and you just need to select one or more items to activate them. Additionally, you can edit INI files and view error or access logs. Certain projects may require a MySQL database. You may create such a database with phpMyAdmin, which can be accessed by selecting an option, in WampServer's main menu or by typing the appropriate URL on your web browser.

Pros

WampServer provides you with Apache2, PHP and MySQL services, which you can manage without too much effort. You can start, restart or stop these services separately or set the program itself to online or offline mode. WampServer allows you to access various logs, edit configuration files, create aliases and more.

Cons

The software does not include a Help file. When it comes to managing web applications, there are no limits to what you can accomplish with WampServer.
